The Issue

Fundamental changes to education funding and infrastructure have seen school budgets reduced in real terms. Many resources that have traditionally been provided by local authorities have either been squeezed or cut altogether. Services and experiences that schools hold dear to enrich teaching, learning and children’s futures are disappearing. Academies can access more direct funds, but the remit for their spending is huge, and many are finding that the marketplace drives a very hard bargain. The money simply isn’t there for schools to realise their vision.
