Ian Parkinson

Ian Parkinson has nearly 30 years experience in broadcasting and the media.

He reported for the BBC from Europe, East Africa, the United States and the former Soviet Union; worked on the Today programme and was an Editor on the launch team of Radio Five Live.

In 1997, he joined Radio 1 as Managing Editor.

For ten years, he was a core member of the network’s management team, responsible for transforming Radio 1 into a leading youth brand; and managing and developing internationally famous talent.

Ian was also responsible for devising, launching and leading the digital black music station 1Xtra.

He has studied strategy and change management at INSEAD in France, and the London Business School.

Ian trained as a Leadership Coach at the BBC, and worked with clients at all levels across the Corporation.

Since leaving the BBC, he has worked as a coach, consultant and trainer with a wide range of organisations across the commercial, public service and charity sectors.
