Jane Bolger
Jane Bolger worked in education and publishing before joining the BBC as a broadcast journalist in 1990. She reported across the UK on human interest stories including the James Bulger murder trial and the shootings in Dunblane.
Politics coverage ranged from local to national elections and overseas assignments took her to Europe, Africa, Israel, Gaza and the West Bank. In 1994 she won a Gold Sony Award for BBC 5Live’s coverage of the IRA ceasefire.
News roles at the BBC included reporting for BBC Breakfast News, presenting Radio 1 Newsbeat and producing programmes with a range of key talent from Nicky Campbell and John Peel to newcomers Huw Stephens, Ras Kwame and Annie Mac.
As an Executive Producer, Jane was responsible for groundbreaking shows like the Radio 1 Surgery and numerous award-winning documentaries. She set up and ran a number of learning initiatives at the BBC and established her skills as a facilitator and trainer.
Jane founded and ran the multi-media initiative One Music, which allowed new talent to make sense of the record industry, winning two Webby Awards, the internet equivalent of the Oscars.
Jane left the BBC in 2006 to focus on training and developing clients in all aspects of communication, broadcast and media skills and awareness; she contributes to a number of creative and artistic projects involving, young people, music and sport, and continues to run training courses for broadcast clients, including the BBC.
